Online meetings have many advantages especially in the increasingly online world. These meetings are time-saving for all participants. Instead of having to get up and go to their work spaces, grab food or print out documents, and then connect to an AV system, attendees can simply join the meeting from wherever they are at that moment. They can also choose to turn off their phones during the meeting if they need to take a break or check their email.

Online meetings are also more timely. Perhaps it’s because participants don’t have to think about running to the bathroom or getting dressed nicely before dialing in. It could be because they are able to choose from a wide selection of locations that will meet their needs, such as their homes cafés, their homes or even the beach.

Furthermore, online meetings can also save companies money. When a business hosts a meeting in-person it has to pay for the space and refreshments. This is not the case for online meetings.

Meetings online have a few disadvantages that should not be ignored. It isn’t easy to grab people’s attention during a meeting if they cannot see each other’s faces. This can result in people checking their emails or checking social media during the meeting, which is not ideal for a productive meeting. Meetings held online aren’t able to provide the same level of communication since people aren’t able to read non-verbal or body language signals.
