Avast detected every malware that was found on the systems that we test. This is a remarkable feat given that the software is able to detect more than 1.5 billion threats each month.

Another significant feature of the program is its speedy boot-time scanning, which scours your system for potentially harmful files prior to Windows even starts. It took less than an hour to run the complete scan on a PC running Windows 10.

The Avast product also has numerous other security tools that are focused on protecting your information. Its Sensitive Document Shield is able to identify sensitive documents such as tickets, invoices and resumes. It did not find any sensitive files however, on the computer I test it on.

It also provides a feature called Bank Mode that provides a virtual desktop that is protected from keystroke recorders, screenshot attempts and other malicious applications. Avast’s privacy practices are excellent.
